SAFEGUARDING AT THE ARBOR SCHOOL
Here at the Arbor School we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for not only for our pupils but also our staff, visitors and families. All staff have read and committed to our Safeguarding Policy and Safeguarding Procedures and recognise and understand that safeguarding children is the responsibility of all.
In addition, the Arbor School complies with local legislation with the introduction of UAE Cabinet directive no. (3/3و) of 2022 from Mr. Hemal BelHasa, CEO of Knowledge and Human Development Policies. This document has been published in both English and Arabic for your reference and is designed to protect and safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of all children in the UAE, this policy includes information for school leaders, early childhood centres, teachers and parents, and details the responsibilities and obligations of all adults who come into contact with children. This has been published in conjunction with the UAE’s Federal Law No. 3 of 2016 on Child Rights (Wadeema’s Law): تنظيم الادارات العامة (khda.gov.ae).

At Arbor we aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children through early intervention, vigilant and rigorous safeguarding procedures and through effective and efficient record keeping.
What is safeguarding?
Members of staff, parents/carers and visitors who come on to our school premises have a duty of care towards the welfare and safety of the children who attend our school. This is called Safeguarding.
Every child can potentially be hurt, put at risk from harm or abused regardless of their age, gender, religion, ethnicity or disability.
Safeguarding means that:
- Children are protected from mistreatment
- Adults are protected from abuse or neglect or the risk of it
- Child’s health or development is protected
- Children grow up with safe and effective care
- Action is taken to ensure the best outcomes for all children
Safeguarding is the action we take to promote the welfare of children in our care and to protect them from harm.
Everybody’s Responsibility:
Keeping children safe is the responsibility of the whole school community, this means even those visiting the school have a responsibility to report instances of actual or suspected abuse or neglect to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Designated Safeguarding Team.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead at the Arbor School is : Mr Daniel Nichol.
The DSL takes lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection (this includes online safety) and is available to provide advice and support to other staff on child welfare and child protection matters.
