Mr. Charles Grayhurst is the Founding Principal of the Arbor School- launched by education services company, Praxis – set to open in the Al Furjan district of Dubai in August 2018.
Born in the United Kingdom, Mr. Grayhurst’s studies commenced in 1993 at the University of Leeds, where he gained a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography in 1996. This was followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Geography from Christchurch College in Canterbury in 1997. He furthered his studies when he obtained his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Bath in 2013.
Mr. Grayhurst has acquired over 20 years’ experience in education and international school management, including working for institutions in Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, China, Vietnam, Qatar and Malaysia.
His career began in 1997 when he joined Colombo International School in Sri Lanka as Head of Geography and Master in Charge of Cricket. In 1999 he moved to Gravesend, England where he was appointed the Head of RE, PSHE and Citizenship at Ifield Special School. Following this, his other positions in the UK included Teacher of Humanities at South Luton High School, and Head of Humanities at Hailey Hall Special School.
In 2005, Mr. Grayhurst made the move to China where he was appointed the Founding Head of Pastoral Care at the British School of Beijing. He continued in this role until he moved to the Renaissance International School Saigon in Vietnam as the Founding Head of Secondary. After spending four years in Vietnam, Mr. Grayhurst then enjoyed a spell in Qatar as the Senior Director of Studies at Sherborne Qatar.
Before his recent move to Dubai, Mr. Grayhurst was the Founding Principal of Straits International School, Penang and Group Executive Principal for almost six years. A frequent visitor to Dubai for holidays with his family, Mr. Grayhurst is exceptionally happy to take up the opportunity as Founding Principal of the Arbor School.
Mr. Grayhurst is particularly experienced in helping to open new international schools and manage change, and provides extreme proficiency in educational leadership, curriculum development and cultural awareness.

Mr. Grayhurst is the proud father of three children. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, taking long walks and reading.
